A GOOD SCRIMMAGE FOR THE DEVIL DOGS

In the wake of his team's 28-14 loss to Conway in a preseason benefit game Tuesday night, Morrilton High School football coach Cody McNabb called the event a good scrimmage for the Devil Dogs, noting that playing one of the state's top programs is what his young team needed to prepare for the rigors of the regular season. Two quarterbacks split reps evenly for the Devil Dog offense. Junior Dylan White and sophomore Jacolby Criswell alternated series with the first-team offense with mixed results. White threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Xaviar Clemons, but also threw an interception. Criswell ran for 74 yards and a touchdown, but fumbled twice. Coach McNabb noted both signal callers have things they need to work on, but feels they performed well under the circumstances. Overall, the coach feels good about where his team is with just eight days remaining until the season kicks off September 1st against Russellville at Devil Dog Stadium.
